What does Vinia actually do?
You photograph the wine list in front of you. Vinia reads every wine on it, asks up to five easy questions about what you feel like drinking and what you're eating, then comes back with one bottle from that list — plus the reasoning, the tasting notes, what it goes with, and how the menu price compares to what the bottle usually costs.
Do I need to know anything about wine?
No. The questions are things like crisp or creamy, red or white, and what's on the table tonight. There's no jargon to decode and nothing to pretend you can taste. If you'd rather not answer at all, hand any question back to Vinia and let it choose.
Does Vinia work on any wine list?
If you can photograph it, Vinia will read it — long leather-bound lists, a single laminated page, several pages at once, a beer-tent card, an airport lounge menu. Vinia works only from the wines printed in front of you, so the recommendation is always something you can order.
What languages does Vinia read and speak?
The app is available in 14 languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese. The list in your hands can be in one language and the answer arrives in yours.
How much does Vinia cost?
Vinia is free to download from the App Store. Scanning a wine list uses AI and needs a subscription — monthly or annual — with up to five scans a day. Your journal, your cellar and your ratings stay with you.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Vinia has no user accounts and never asks for an email address or a password. Before your first scan the app explains exactly what gets sent and asks for your permission. The details are in the privacy policy.
